Membership Carries Responsibilities
CraftAuthority membership is not only a credential — it is a commitment. Approved members accept the following obligations as a condition of standing.
To Clients
- Perform work within legitimate competence
- Communicate scope and pricing truthfully
- Honor legitimate written obligations
- Respond appropriately to workmanship deficiencies
- Avoid deceptive sales practices
- Treat homeowners fairly
To the Profession
- Comply with applicable licensing requirements
- Comply with permitting and building requirements
- Represent qualifications honestly
- Treat fellow members professionally
- Treat employees and subcontractors fairly
- Protect the reputation of the craft
To the Alliance
- Maintain required documentation
- Cooperate with legitimate standing reviews
- Never misuse the CraftAuthority mark
- Preserve professional knowledge
- Mentor when reasonably capable
- Never assist fraudulent standing applications

The Founding 500™
The first 500 approved contractor members will be permanently recorded as the founding professional class of CraftAuthority Alliance.
They are not buying Founding status.
They receive it because they were among the first professionals willing to put their reputation, credentials, and professional standing behind the Alliance's standard — before the organization reached the scale that made membership an obvious choice.
Founding designation is permanent historical recognition.
Once all 500 legitimate Founding Member positions are filled, no additional Founding designations will be created.

Mentorship

Future earned designations based on competence, contribution, and standing — not purchased or automatically assigned. (Framework being established.)

Professional Advancement
CraftAuthority is developing a framework of earned professional designations based on documented competence, standing, contribution, and peer recognition. These designations cannot be purchased. Standards are being formally developed before any tier becomes operational.
Meets the baseline CraftAuthority documentation and standing standard. License, insurance, and professional history verified and on record.
CurrentDemonstrated experience and professional competence beyond baseline verification. Substantive body of work and continued standing in good order.
PlannedSubstantial documented experience, demonstrated body of work, professional standing, mentorship contribution, and appropriate peer review.
PlannedExceptional long-term service to the craft, the public, education, or the institution. Awarded for contribution beyond one's own business interests.
PlannedActual standards for Journeyman, Master, and Fellow designations must be formally developed and approved before these tiers become operational. No advancement designations are currently active beyond Verified Member.
Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer
Every generation of builders receives knowledge accumulated by those who came before. CraftAuthority intends to help preserve that chain — connecting experienced professionals with developing tradespeople who are building their craft and their character.

Governance Vision
CraftAuthority is intended to grow larger than its Founder. The following represents the planned governance architecture. These bodies are being established over time as the institution matures.
Standards Council
Responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating the professional standards that define membership eligibility and ongoing standing.
Standing & Ethics Committee
Reviews standing decisions, member conduct matters, and appeals from members or the public regarding standing determinations.
Appeals Panel
Independent review of contested standing decisions. Ensures that due process is applied fairly and consistently.
Craft Council
Member-elected advisory body providing input on professional standards, advancement criteria, and the direction of the Alliance.
Member Council
Representative voice of the membership. Provides structured input on policy decisions, member services, and institutional direction.
Local Chapters
Regional professional communities providing local fellowship, mentorship, education, and peer accountability within the Alliance framework.
Founder-affiliated businesses receive no preferential standing. Commercial relationships, advertising, and personal relationships do not determine standing. This principle is foundational.
